This is definitely a beginner book and not a professional type manual or anything -- not that it's supposed to be. Just keep in mind that this is more of an exploratory work.
Reading it will allow you to know what kinds of things are out there in terms of technology, risks, etc. If you want to know more about those things or how to really work on computers or some such, this is not the book for you. This is more of a definitions and key terms book.
I'm majoring in CIT and needed this textbook for an entry level course It is literally common sense. However, it is a good book overall for whoever really does not know anything about computers. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase.
The book content is good, the reason I gave one star is because of the vendor. It was a school requirement to use this book so I rented it on February of this year. However, in my case I will probably end up paying more, just to rent the book. It's a good book. It gets in depth about almost all topics about computers. I just wish it was more technical with certain topics, but so far it's the best computer book I've read.
One person found this helpful. Lots of torn Book is in very average condition. Lots of torn pages that was taped up but I see no missing pages so far. This book was precisely what was needed for my daughter's course. Much of the information, while outdated, is presented in a way that is so layman's terms that it unnecessarily longer than it needed to be.

International Edition Original language: English Number of items: Paperback Most helpful customer reviews. The and X99 level book on Computing By M. This book covers topics beyond computing namely data communications as well. It also discusses the history or evolution of digital computing, worldwide web, software development processes, hardwares, network types and topologies, cyber crimes, and so many other things.
This book is more than enough. It definitely addicts students like me and influences them to choose Info Sys, Info Tech, or Computer Science as their major. I believe this book is suitable for both introductory or survey courses "" and Independent Learning courses "X99"; simply, this book is well written.

My cousin had to use this book for her introduction to computers class By DK This book is complete trash.
As a senior Computer Science major I can honestly say that this book has so much incorrect information it is scary that people teach with this.
This book actually attempts to touch on higher level computer science, without having any idea what it is talking about. I was very pleased with the service of this company. Parker Deborah Morley Kindle.
